The annual Luminary event on 12/31/09, was once again a huge success!!! The bitter cold did not deter animal lovers from coming out and honoring their pets, past and present. Delicious refreshments and good conversation was enjoyed by all that attended. Our special guest of the evening was Jacob Chastain from the First Church of the Nazarene. He personally went around and blessed each shelter pet. It was a touching event. Jacob and his wife also adopted a shelter dog named "Kate". She is a Staffordshire Terrier that had been at the shelter for over a year. Everyone at the shelter knew "Kate" was a special dog, and the Chastains soon found that out for themselves! There are other shelter dogs that have been at the shelter for over a year and are waiting on that special person to take a chance on them. They will not disapoint!!
