Ned Anderson Turns Over The Reigns To Harry Rogers
Ned Anderson began his legacy at the Knox County Humane Society as a volunteer who offered to paint the lobby of the shelter when it opened it's doors in 1995. Soon after, he was asked to sit on the board. Ned has served on the board as A.S.(administrative services), and until recently, the president of the board. Ned states that "it has been an exciting time being the chairman, but like most good things, they have to come to an end. I have met my goals set when I was President, such as getting the shelter back on track financially, and turning around the adoption program. I have worked closely with the newly elected A.S., Erin Buckmaster, making the adoption process a more consumer friendly experience. The goal of all board members is to get all the animals adopted to good homes." Ned also states that "without the help of fellow board member Ray Keegan, these goals may have never been met."
As of January 1st, 2010, Harry Rogers was elected President of the board. Rogers has served on the board for over three years, and had been acting A.S. for the shelter. His goals are similar for the shelter as Ned Anderson. "In my tenure as President, I would like to continue to strengthen the adoption program, possibly
by extending the hours that we are open for adoptions, ensuring all animals find loving homes. I also want to make the community more aware of the services provided by the Knox County Humane Society, and will explore ways to strenghten the shelter financially." Rogers worked 34 years for Burlington Northern before retiring. Besides all of the hours he donates to the shelter, he is also an avid volunteer for Habitat for Humanity for the past ten years.
